President Donald Trump said that a Covid-19 vaccine is ready and that it could be distributed ‘within weeks’.
Speaking at the presidential debate against Joe Biden Thursday night, the president said: ‘We have a vaccine that’s coming. ‘It’s ready, it’s going to be announced within weeks…the military is going to deliver the vaccine.’
When asked for a ‘guarantee’ that a shot would be ready within weeks, Trump answered: ‘It’s not a guarantee, it will be [ready] by the end of the year, there’s a good chance.’
The news comes as the UK recorded 189 deaths and 21,242 new coronavirus cases yesterday.
It is a drop of more than 5,000 from Wednesday’s 26,688 new infections, which was the highest number since the start of the pandemic.
