Coronavirus deaths this winter could be twice as high as during the UK’s first wave, the Prime Minister will warn MPs today.

Boris Johnson is set to claim he had ‘no alternative’ but to bring in a second national lockdown in England – while angry Tory rebels say the measures will be ‘disastrous’ for the economy.

Meanwhile, Prince William ‘struggled to breathe’ after contracting coronavirus in April – but kept it secret to avoid alarming the nation.

The Duke of Cambridge’s diagnosis came in the days after Prime Minister Boris Johnson was struck down by the virus, and people close to the Prince said he was concerned about worrying the country further. The PM eventually ended up in intensive care fighting for his life, but William appears to have carried out a series of virtual engagements while fighting off the virus.
