Boris Johnson has strongly hinted that many regions will have to stay under tough Covid rules until at least March despite signs of a vaccine on the horizon.
He told a Downing Street press conference that ‘things will look and feel very different’ after Easter, by which time the most vulnerable people are expected to have been inoculated.
Meanwhile, exemptions from self-isolation orders in exchange for frequent testing will be offered to some people as early as next month, officials have confirmed.
Those who qualify for the so-called ‘freedom pass’ won’t have to stay at home after coming into close contact with someone infected with Covid-19 provided they keep testing negative.
