Matt Hancock has said police officers will stop people boarding trains or driving their cars out of tier four areas following new Covid legislation.
Appearing on The Andrew Marr Show this morning, the Health Secretary said the police would be enforcing the new rules, which were introduced early this morning.
When questioned if police will stop people getting on trains and getting in their cars to drive to the Midlands, Matt Hancock said: ‘Of course, it is the police’s responsibility to police the law, and the law came into force in the early hours this morning.’
