Police in West London were forced to break up a huge street brawl involving bottles, knives and a sword on Sunday.

Officers in Ealing say they responded to a large fight involving up to 40 men yesterday morning and have now arrested two males.

They initially suggested two swords had been identified during the chaos in Southall, but later said ‘at least one sword’ was involved.

In a statement released on Sunday night, the Metropolitan Police said ‘no injuries’ had been reported. It explained: ‘Police were called at around 12.20am to a large group of males fighting with knives and at least one sword in the area of King Street, Southall. Officers attended and arrested two male, both aged in their 20s, on suspicion of violent disorder and affray.’

The force said both men remain in custody.

In an earlier tweet about the incident, Ealing Police had described the incident as a ‘large fight’ which involved ‘up to 40 males fighting with swords and bottles’.

It went on: ‘Two males were chased into St Johns Road and identified as having carried swords during the fight.’
