Wild celebrations have broken out across England as football fans celebrated their team’s win against Germany.

Supporters have piled out of pubs for spontaneous street parties after watching Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane seal a 2-0 victory against the old rivals.

Some 40,000 supporters were inside the stadium and roared as their team went ahead thanks to Londoner Sterling’s third goal of the tournament in the 75th minute.

They included an animated Duke of Cambridge, the FA president, who threw his arms aloft alongside his seven-year-old son, Prince George, and the Duchess of Cambridge, as the goal went in.

In fan zones, pub beer gardens and parks across the country, there was little evidence that the tournament was being held in the shadow of the coronavirus pandemic.

Strangers hugged each other and drinks were hurled into the air as England went ahead and then weathered a late Germany onslaught.

Fans in Trafalgar Square jumped up and screamed for joy as England scored their first goal late in the game.

Several also jumped on to tables, with one fan waving his T-shirt around his head.
