The most famous street in British politics is looking quite different than usual, with dozens of England flags flying from fences and displayed in the windows.

Boris Johnson was pictured standing on the doorstep of 10 Downing Street clutching a flag in both hands, just in case there weren’t enough already.

Of course, it’s all in honour of the much anticipated final of the Euro 2020 tournament, when England will play Italy on Sunday night.

The prime minister seems to believe it’s coming home – and if you have struggled finding a St George flag ready for the match, now you know where they all are.

Many people were enjoying the sight, but some wondered if the same honour would have been extended to the devolved nations, if one of them had reached the final instead.

The PM, who watched the semifinal against Denmark at Wembley with his wife Carrie, has wished the national men’s team the ‘very best’ ahead of the final.

If they win, it will be the first international tournament win since the World Cup in 1966.

Elsewhere in the country, football fans on Wales Street have temporarily renamed their road England Street ahead of the final.

Residents on the road in Oldham, near Manchester, have adorned their homes in England flags and erected a new red-and-white sign above the original.

The road in Lancashire, which sits between Prince Charlie Street and Prince George Street, looks patriotic ahead of the Three Lions’ clash with Italy at Wembley Stadium.
