A woman from Brisbane, Australia, has recently revealed a life hack for chilling wine in just 15 minutes – ideal for a hot day.
In the video, Leanne adds ice and two tablespoons of salt to a bowl of water, and then places the bottle of wine in the mix to sit for 15 minutes.
Salt lowers the freezing point of the water so the ice will melt at a lower temperature than usual, which results in cooler water for the wine.
The video, lasting less than 20 seconds, has been viewed thousands of times, with comments underneath the video praising Leanne for her genius idea.
One person said the hack was ‘life changing’ while another said ‘we all need this’.
A third added: ‘I needed this hack! Thank you for sharing.’
Interacting with her followers in the comments, Leanne wrote: ‘This hack is definitely worth knowing,’ as it can save you drinking lukewarm wine, watering your glass down with ice, or having to wait an hour for your wine to be ready to drink.
There are a number of other methods to chill your wine, such as dropping frozen grapes into your wine glass as they won’t water the drink down like ice does.
Another way is to wrap the bottle in a damp towel and place it in the freezer for a short time – the towel will freeze quickly around the bottle and it will be less likely to explode in your freezer.
