The Moderna vaccine has been found to be the most effective among US-approved jabs at protecting coronavirus patients from hospitalization, according to a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) study.
Moderna’s jab provided 93% protection, slightly more than Pfizer’s 88% and Johnson & Johnson’s 71% protection results, the study released on Friday found.
‘Among US adults without immunocompromising conditions, vaccine effectiveness against Covid-19 hospitalization during March 11- August 15, 2021, was higher for the Moderna vaccine (93%) than the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine (88%) and the Janssen vaccine (71%),’ the team behind the study wrote in the CDC’s weekly report on disease and death.
‘Although these real-world data suggest some variation in levels of protection by vaccine, all (Food and Drug Administration) FDA-approved or authorized Covid-19 vaccines provide substantial protection against Covid-19 hospitalization.’
The main difference between Moderna and Pfizer, both which entail two doses, was that people experienced a decline roughly four months after being fully inoculated with Pfizer’s jab.
The CDC-led study was conducted with more than 3,600 adults hospitalized across the country from March to August.
