Woman’s body found in park as man arrested for murder

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman’s body was discovered near a community centre in Greenwich, London.

The victim, believed to be in her 20s, was found close to the Onespace Community Centre in Cator Park at 5.30pm on Saturday.

Officers believe they know who the woman is but she is yet to be formally identified.

There is no confirmation that the victim’s family has been told of the tragedy yet. A post-mortem is set to be arranged.

A man was arrested on suspicion of murder at a house in Lewisham at around 9.20pm last night.

A spokesperson from the Metropolitan Police said: ‘A number of crime scenes are in place and enquiries are ongoing.
