
At least one police officers was reportedly injured on an Amtrak train that arrived in Tucson, Arizona, as a gunman aboard apparently barricaded himself in a bathroom.
The shooting occurred at 7.40am on Monday as the train traveling from Los Angeles to New Orleans pulled into a station in Tucson near 400 North Toole Avenue, according to KOLD.
A Tucson police officer was taken to a local hospital, the TV station reported.
A gunman was arrested after he locked himself in the bathroom inside the train, the Daily Mail reported.
‘One person has been detained,’ the Tucson Police Department tweeted early afternoon on Monday.
Gunfire erupted between a passenger on the train and cops at the Sunset Limited station, said evacuated passenger Evan Courtney, according to CNN.
‘People came running through yelling, “Shots fired!”‘ said Courtney, who was in a lounge car.
‘I looked out of the window and saw SWAT with assault rifles huddled behind barricades,’ Courtney said. ‘After about 15 minutes, police ran to us and told us to get out of the car and run in the opposite direction, out of harm’s way.’
No injuries to the 137 passengers and 11 crew members were reported, Amtrak spokesman Jason Abrams told KGUN9.
