Tens of thousands of people across the UK have been struggling to log on to Facebook and Instagram after another reported outage.

People across the UK have been complaining of connectivity issues on Downdetector, a website tracking internet outages.

Around 2,000 people reported being unable to access Facebook at around 8pm on Friday, according to Downdetector.

More than 32,000 users said they were having trouble getting onto Instagram at around 7pm.

Facebook messenger did not appear to be as widely affected, with around 800 people reporting outages for the app.

Out of people reporting issues, 60% said there was an issue with the Instagram app, while 23% said there was a server connection problem and 17% couldn’t refresh their feeds.

Meanwhile 44% said they couldn’t use the Facebook app, while the same percentage couldn’t access the website properly and 12% said servers weren’t working.

Facebook said on Twitter: ‘We’re aware that some people are having trouble accessing our apps and products.

‘We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible and we apologize for any inconvenience.’

Instagram added: ‘We know some of you may be having some issues using Instagram right now.

‘We’re so sorry and are working as quickly as possible to fix.’

Monday’s outage, which affected Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, left billions of the platforms’ users unable to get online for more than five hours.

Facebook, which owns all three platforms, said the glitch was caused by an error during a routine maintenance job and ‘not by malicious activity’.
