A teenage girl was raped ‘by someone she knows’ in a park next to a nursery school in a quiet town.
The 15-year-old was attacked on Wednesday evening at 7.30pm at King George V Playing Field in the small town of Sittingbourne in Kent – where police dogs, forensics vans and emergency vehicles were seen the next day.
The young victim and the attacker are believed to have known each other, KentOnline reported.
The horrific crime took place in a park near Queenborough Primary School and Nursery, which was forced to close its gates to the park.
The school tweeted: ‘The park next to the school has been cordoned off by police.
‘This is not related to the school, but we have been asked not to open the park gates this afternoon. Only the front gates will be open.’
No arrests have been made and police are still investigating.
A Kent Police spokesman said: ‘Officers received a report that at around 7.30pm on Wednesday, September 29, a 15-year-old girl had been raped in a field near Edward Road, Queenborough.
‘Officers believe the victim and suspect are known to each other and are treating the incident as isolated.
‘No arrests have yet been made and enquiries are ongoing.’

Home Secretary Priti Patal echoed similar thoughts when she told The Telegraph: ‘This is a very clear message to police to raise the bar.
‘Treat everybody in the right way. Make sure that when these crimes or concerns are reported, people are treated with respect, dignity and seriously.’
