Breakfast was ruined for thousands when a lorry full of potato waffles burst into flames on the motorway during rush hour.
The HGV’s cargo was left more than a little well done after being torched during the blaze on the M6 in Cheshire.
The charred remains of hundreds of packs of Birdseye’s waffles could be seen in the back of the vehicle after firefighters extinguished the flames.
It broke out in the lorry which was parked on the hard shoulder at around 7.10am this morning.
The blaze caused lengthy delays between junctions 20 and 21, for Lymm and Woolston.
Cheshire Police confirmed that the driver was not injured and remained at the scene to assist officers and fire investigators.
The blaze was out by 9.30am but a special grab crane had to be brought in to remove the contents.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue did not confirm what happened to the waffles after being taken off site.
A Highways England spokesperson said the incident caused delays of more than 90 minutes above usual journey times.
