An Amazon worker has died at the company’s largest UK distribution centre in Essex.
An ambulance was called to the site in Tilbury at 8.10am on Sunday after reports the employee had become unwell but he died at the scene.
Metro.co.uk understands the man had not yet started his shift at the vast warehouse, having arrived early.
His suspected cause of death is from natural causes and was not related to his work.
Essex Police said the death was not being treated as suspicious.
An Amazon spokesperson said: ‘We’re deeply saddened by this tragic event. Their family and loved ones are in our thoughts, and we’re supporting them and our employees during this difficult time.
The distribution centre in Tilbury employs 4,000 people and covers two million square feet.
It runs 24/7 but is understood to have not been operational at the time, due to scheduled maintenance.
A spokeswoman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: ‘We received a call at 8.10am yesterday with reports of a person who was unwell in Winchelsea Road, Tilbury.
‘We sent one ambulance, however the person sadly died at the scene.’
