Boy, 10, dies after dog attack at house

Scene Picture 08/11/2021. A 10-year-old boy has died after being attacked by a dog, police said tonight(mon). Emergency services were called after the out-of-control animal attacked the boy in Penyrhoel, Caerphilly on Monday afternoon. Paramedics attended but the boy - who has not been named - was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. The dog was shot dead by firearms officers. Gwent Police said:

A 10-year-old boy has died after reports of a dog attack in Wales.

The child died at the scene at a house in Pentwyn, Penyrhoel on Monday afternoon.

The dog has been destroyed by firearms officers following the tragedy. No other animals were involved.

Paramedics from the Welsh Ambulance Service rushed to the scene at around 3.55pm but were unable to save the boy.

Chief Superintendent Mark Hobrough from Gwent Police said: ‘Officers will be making further enquiries at this time and will remain at the scene as the investigation progresses.

‘It is possible that you may see ongoing police activity in Caerphilly as part of this work.
