Oxford High School locked down after ‘at least one student shot’

Oxford High School in Michigan was placed on lockdown on Tuesday afternoon after at least one student was reportedly shot and several more were injured.

A shooter has been taken into custody, the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office told Local 4. A handgun was also recovered.

The shooting occurred shortly before 1pm in the hallway of the school, according to the TV station.

As of 1.30pm, the sheriff said that there were four to six victims and no confirmed fatalities.

Authorities do not believe there are additional shooters.

A SWAT team and aviation unit also responded to the scene, Fox 2 reported.

An alert sent to parents stated that an active emergency was reported on the campus and that it was on lockdown, according to Fox 2. Oxford Community Schools confirmed the lockdown to the TV station and declined to elaborate on any injuries or threats.

Oxford is a village about 30 miles north of Detroit with a population of less than 3,400 people.
