A five-bedroom house for sale for just £325,000 has a magical, secret feature – a stunning waterfall right on its doorstep.

The coastal Scottish pad – which dates back to 1860 – is complete with a castle-style courtyard, commercial kitchen, and breathtaking sea views.

Set over two floors, there’s also four bathrooms, with quirky decor features like exposed brickwork adding to its charm.

Other rooms have plenty of colour, with one boasting blue walls, a blue fireplace and blue accent tiles on the floor.

It’s the location, however, that makes it stand out.

Located in the Scottish Highlands close to Wick, the property sits above the famous Whaligoe Steps and its rugged coastline rocks, and boasts views of the nearby rapids.

Packed with history, it has once been used a restaurant, with the ground floor serving as a pit stop for those exploring the steps and coast. Further in the past, the B listed property was a Herring Station with a cooperage and stables.

The character building is 2,551 sq ft in total, which equals £127 per sq ft. For comparison, the average London home comes in at £729 per sq ft – and we’ve yet to see one with its own waterfall.

A spokesperson said: ‘Bought by the present owners for the position and views, it has been mostly renovated to an extremely high standard.

‘Though, some decoration to the west wing still remains for the new owner to enjoy.’

They added: ‘Part of the ground floor was, until recently, a restaurant with a commercial kitchen, reception room and customer toilets.

‘A new owner could continue with a likewise venture or run Airbnb in the upper wings.’

For prospective buyers worried about the chilly sea air, agents confirmed that all the windows are double glazed and the Ecco oil fired stove keeps the place toasty.

The listing also reads: ‘Viewing is absolutely essential to appreciate not only the uniqueness of this home but also the location, the breathtaking views and also the potential that it has.’

You’ll need to be used to rural life, as the nearest train station is seven miles away. But with nature like this directly outside your door, who needs hustle and bustle anyway?
