If you managed to tear your eyes away from Aidan Turner’s chiselled features during Poldark, one of the things you’ll have noticed is the show’s beautiful backdrop.

Set on the Cornwall coastline, the landscapes in the hit historical drama added to the romantic plotlines, with the region’s blustery cliffsides setting the scene for tumultuous events to come.

Many of the areas where the show was filmed have become tourist hotspots, but two lucky people now have the unique opportunity to live like Ross Poldark himself, immersing themselves in the community the character called home.

St Austell Brewery is looking for two talented pub operators to run a couple of its pubs in Charlestown, which played a starring role in the BBC’s hit television series.

Charlestown – on the south coast of Cornwall – is famous for its collection of tall ships and breathtaking scenery, as well as being home to Poldark’s protagonist.

Many of the scenes from the series were filmed the Grade II listed harbour just a stone’s throw from the hiring pubs, the Rashleigh Arms and the Pier House.

The Rashleigh Arms is an award-winning premium pub with eighteen bedrooms overlooking the harbour. Meanwhile, the Pier House Hotel is a larger inn with twenty-seven comfy rooms that also benefit from seaside views.

The company is looking for experienced pub managers from a managed background, stipulating the ideal candidates ‘are great customer and people leaders, and truly passionate about quality food and drink and creating memorable experiences for our guests.’

The ability to lead a team and ensure ‘exceptional’ retail standards are adhered to are also key.

Being set in such a desirable location means the pub welcomes high footfall over the summer, so applicants will need to have experience managing high seasonal uplift while maintaining quality year-round.

The salary offered is between £42,000 and £50,000 for each role as well as a benefits package, so there’s no need to plunder ships or open risky copper mines to get by.

If you choose to wear a tricorn hat and stare broodily out into the ocean a la Poldark, however, that’s up to you.

‘Our people are right at the heart of everything we do, and we’re always on the lookout for passionate and talented pub operators to join our teams and help us deliver unforgettable experiences.

‘As a business, we are committed to nurturing and releasing the potential of our people and are proud to be in a position to offer great career opportunities in one of the most beautiful regions of the UK.’
