A missing schoolboy who was last seen getting on a bus has been found dead in a south London wood, the Metropolitan Police have said.

The death is currently being treated as unexplained.

Jamie Daniel, 14, was last seen at around 4pm on Wednesday, May 11 getting on to the Route 132 bus from Eltham after school.

A spokesperson for the Met Police said officers were called to Dene Avenue in Sidcup, shortly before 11am the following day after a male was found unresponsive in a wooded area.

‘Officers responded. The male was pronounced dead at the scene,’ the force said.

‘The male has been formally identified as 14-year-old Jamie Daniel, who had been reported missing from Bexley.

‘We ask that his family’s privacy is respected at this very difficult time.

‘The death is currently being treated as unexplained while enquiries continue. A file will be prepared for the Coroner.’
