The Justice Department has submitted its proposed redactions to the search warrant affidavit the FBI used to seize documents from former President Donald Trump’s home.

The submission submission met the Thursday deadline a judge set, after exactly a week ago ordering that parts of the affidavit be unsealed.

Justice Department spokesman Anthony Coley told NBC News that the agency ‘filed a submission under seal per the Court’s order of Aug. 22’ and declined to provide further comment ‘as the Court considers the matter’.

US Magistrate Judge Bruce Reinhart has said that he may not release much of the affidavit, if any parts at all.

It is not clear when the Reinhart will inform the public of his decision.

The affidavit could shed light on the reasoning for allowing FBI agents to search Trump’s home on August 8. It could also show evidence that the federal government handed to the judge.

News of the Justice Department’s submission broke shortly after Trump insisted he is ‘innocent’ and criticized and questioned President Joe Biden’s claim that he did not have prior knowledge of the raid.
