Former President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle weren’t shy about sharing their love for each other on their 30th wedding anniversary.

The 44th president on Monday morning celebrated their three decades together partly by posting pictures of Michelle and himself, and writing a heartfelt note on social media.

‘Miche, After 30 years, I’m not sure why you look exactly the same and I don’t. I do know that I won the lottery that day—that I couldn’t have asked for a better life partner,’ wrote Barack on Instagram. ‘Happy anniversary, sweetheart!’

One of the three pictures showed the couple sitting close to each other in mountainous terrain, with him resting his head on her shoulder. The second was a snap of a beach with ‘Barack + Michelle’ written in the sand inside a heart. The last was a black-and-white image of the couple on their wedding day.

Around the same time, Michelle shared a very similar post, also with three photos. The first showed the couple at a beach, with Barack’s arm around her shoulder. The second photograph was the same heart in the sand, and the third was a different black-and-white photo from their wedding.

‘Happy anniversary to the man I love! These last 30 years have been an adventure, and I’m grateful to have you by my side,’ she wrote on her Instagram post. ‘Here’s to a lifetime together. I love you, @BarackObama!’

Michelle included emojis of a heart and a face throwing a kiss.

While their 30th wedding anniversary is a milestone, the Obamas have long been open to the public about their affection for each other.

On their 29th anniversary, the couple also shared heartwarming posts for each other.

Barack posted two pictures of them and wrote: ‘Happy anniversary, Miche! Over the past 29 years, I’ve loved watching the world get to know you not just as a daughter of the South Side, but as a mother, lawyer, executive, author, First Lady, and my best friend. I can’t imagine life without you.’

It seems to be a tradition for the couple to mirror each other on their special day. Michelle on October 3, 2021, also shared two pictures of them—a recent one of the couple that her husband had posted, as well as one from when they were younger.

‘How it started vs. how it’s going,’ wrote Michelle. ‘Happy anniversary, Barack—love you!’
