A man who was blackout drunk from celebrating his birthday allegedly stabbed his girlfriend 100 times and beheaded her because she wouldn’t have sex with him.
Justin Fields, 38, and his girlfriend Tammy Bailey, 52, went to a few bars in the Springfield area of Alabama on Friday night for his birthday and then went to her home where they lived together.
‘He had a drink of brandy and then went into his bedroom and was playing guitar,’ Blount County Sheriff Mark Moon told Al.com. ‘He decided he wanted to have sex, so he went into her room and propositioned her.’
According to Fields, Bailey was not on the same page.
‘She refused him,’ said Moon. ‘It frustrated him and he stabbed her in the chest.’
Field told investigators that he blacked out and passed out. He woke up the next morning and upon seeing Bailey’s bloody body, thought he was having a nightmare and used an 8-inch blade to stab her over 100 times more.
‘We’re pretty sure she was dead on the first blow,’ Moon said. ‘When he went back in there the next day, she had not moved.’
Fields reportedly panicked and called his dad to tell him he ‘had done something horrible’ and wanted to take his own life. Fields’ father called one of Bailey’s relatives, whom he refused entry to when she arrived at the home.
‘What’s inside is terrible and she doesn’t want to see it’, said Fields, according to Moon.
Bailey’s relative called 911 and cops arrived at the home on Bailey Drive around 5.30pm.
Fields sat on the front steps of the residence and told a deputy that he had committed a horrible act and that there was evidence inside.
According to Moon, the deputy told Fields he was going to put him in handcuffs for everyone’s safety, to which Fields said: ‘That’s OK. You’re going to arrest me anyway.’
Two deputies entered the home and observed the horrific scene. Fields confessed all his actions to an investigator.
‘So he was stable enough to know what he was doing,’ Moon said. ‘He was frustrated because he didn’t get what he wanted.’
Fields was arrested and charged with murder and abuse of a corpse, according to jail records. He was booked into Blount County Jail on Sunday. Fields had no criminal history and it was not immediately known if he had a mental illness.
The case was ‘pretty hard’ on deputies who entered the home ‘because they’ve never experienced anything like that’, Moon said.
