The total number of people who have been infected with coronavirus since the pandemic started now stands at 544, 275 after another 14,162 cases were recorded on Wednesday.
The figures from the Department of Health show 70 more deaths were recorded, bringing the number of deaths with Covid-19 on the death certificate to 57, 347.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Boris Johnson ‘is reportedly drawing up plans to order restaurants and pubs in northern England to close from Monday.
This will include Manchester, Liverpool, Newcastle and Nottingham, according to the Financial Times, which states a decision by senior ministers to tighten measures is expected by the weekend.
