A flustered Hillary Clinton voter flirted with Donald Trump by telling him he was ‘handsome’ and had a great smile. Paulette Dale appeared utterly smitten with the President of the United States during a Miami town hall Thursday evening, telling him: ‘Good evening Mr President, I have to say you have a great smile.’
Trump smiled back at Dale, saying: ‘Gotcha, thank you,’ with the reply seemingly making her even more excited. Regaining her composure, Dale said: ‘Okay, so… you’re so handsome when you smile.’
She then went on to ask President Trump about US immigration policies for so-called ‘dreamers’, born in the US to illegal immigrant parents. Trump said he was going to ‘take care’ of dreamers, and hailed his efforts for building 400 miles of wall along the US southern border with Mexico.
He added: ‘We want people to come into their country, but they have to come in legally. You will feel very happy over the course of the next year.’
Despite Dale’s obvious affection for Trump, she admitted to leaning towards Biden in the November 3 election. Dale admitted considering voting for Trump again despite being a registered Republican – the same party the president leads.
Thursday’s town hall in Miami saw Trump take questions from voters, and NBC host Savannah Guthrie. He refused to say when he last tested positive for coronavirus, or whether he had suffered pneumonia – although Trump appeared back to his old energetic self, and handled hostile questions with ease.
Trump appeared at the Miami event at exactly the same time Joe Biden was doing his own town hall on rival network ABC News. The two men had been scheduled to debate one another head-to-head on Thursday, but Trump pulled out after the Commission for Presidential Debates said the event would have to take place digitially, in light of Trump’s Covid diagnosis.
Trump and Biden are due to meet face to face again in Nashville on October 22 for one last debate before the November 3 election.
