Democratic nominee Joe Biden has won Virginia in the US presidential election.

The win in the blue state was announced on Tuesday, giving Biden 13 electoral college votes.

A candidate needs 270 electoral college votes to win the presidency.

This is a state that leans toward Democrats, with Hillary Clinton winning there in 2016.

Virginia has been in a swing state in the past, but Biden is picking up where the Democrats left off previously.

Trump avoided Virginia these past few weeks, but stopping into the Republican National Committee’s headquarters in Arlington.

He predicted ‘a great night’ in Virginia, although it didn’t seem to go in his favor.

Millions of votes were cast due to early voting and mail-in ballots, but the election will be officially called by the end of Tuesday, November 3.
