At least two people were killed after a knifeman ‘dressed in medieval clothes’ went on a stabbing spree in Quebec City on Halloween.
Another five victims were rushed to hospital, but their immediate condition was not known, Canadian media reports.
A male suspect was arrested early on Sunday as armed police told residents near the area to stay indoors.
Officers had earlier said that they were on the hunt for a man dressed in medieval clothing carrying a bladed weapon, leaving ‘multiple victims’.
Police spokesperson Etienne Doyon reportedly said the suspect was in his mid-20s and was also taken to a hospital for evaluation.
The spokesperson added: ‘On behalf of the Quebec City police, I want to offer my sincerest condolences to the loved ones and families of the people who died today.’
There were no immediate details available on the possible motive behind the attack.
