Happy August bank holiday… if you’re in England and Wales, sorry Scotland. But your time will come with St Andrew’s Day.

As many Brits enjoy the day off – despite the cold weather conditions – some will want to make the most of it.

If you are out and about today, will the buses be running?

Do buses run on a bank holiday?

Buses – and trains – do run on bank holidays, unless there’s been a specific announcement for a particular service.

For example, some train lines will carry out essential maintenance on bank holidays, but there is usually plenty of forewarning.

Buses will otherwise be running throughout the bank holiday, but less frequently than a normal Monday.

Most bus services run their Sunday service on bank holidays, meaning you can still catch a bus, but they might end earlier or have longer gaps in service.

If you’re one of the Brits out in force this bank holiday, most bus services have a timetable you can track online so you aren’t left waiting for a bus that isn’t going to come.
