It’s the August Bank Holiday today and what could be the last day of one of the coldest Bank Holiday weekends on record.

As with all Bank Holiday Mondays, the opening hours of some of the UK’s most essential services might be a bit different.

This include the Post Office as well as Royal Mail delivery services.

Here’s when the Post Office may be open today and how you can expect your mail deliveries to be affected:

Are post offices open over the August Bank Holiday?

Whether a post office is open or not over the August Bank Holiday will depend on your local branch.

Onepostoffice.co.uk says: ‘For Local Post Office branches, the Post Office should be open if your retail business is open on a Bank Holiday.’

The site also points out that main Post Office branches are contracted to open during their retail business opening hours on a Bank Holiday.

This means that the majority of Post Offices will be open today.

However, as branch opening times may differ, you are advised to check that your local branch is open before you visit.

Royal Mail don’t usually deliver or collect mail on bank and public holidays and on Monday August 31 their website confirms that there will be ‘No collections or deliveries’.

Their delivery service will resume again as normal on Tuesday September 1.
