A pilot has been killed after his plane crashed in the Lake District hills.
He was flying a light aircraft with no other passengers on board when it crashed north of Troutbeck at about 2.50pm.
The emergency services were scrambled and found the man dead at the scene.
No further details about the victim have been confirmed by police, who have launched an investigation.
Troutbeck is a village in the South Lakeland district of Cumbria and is located three miles north of Lake Windermere.
‘The single occupant of the aircraft, a man, was pronounced deceased at the scene,’ a Cumbria Police statement said.
‘There were no other casualties.
‘The Air Accidents Investigation Branch has been contacted and a cordon put in place around the site.’
